SUSTAINABILITY

All Eduards Accessories products are designed in Gothenburg and manufactured in Sweden using vegetable-tanned leather. Being part of the journey towards more sustainable consumption patterns is a given for us, and our work is built on three pillars: long-term design, sustainable materials, and ethical production. Our commitment is evident in every detail; from the design process to material selection, manufacturing, and the product lifecycle.

Long-term Design, Quality Materials, and Local Production

Eduards' mission is to create timeless bags and accessories that can be loved for generations. Inspired by Swedish nature and Nordic craftsmanship traditions, all our products are designed in Gothenburg and made in Sweden from vegetable-tanned leather. We work exclusively with local Swedish production, which means we are close to our manufacturers from concept to finished product. We allow the design process to take its time so that each model develops its own unique personality, free from short-lived trends. Our bags are designed for easy maintenance, with replaceable parts and standard colors, which extends the lifespan of our products.

Innovation and Collaborations

Eduards Accessories regularly participates in sustainability projects together with partners such as the Swedish research institute RISE and other local actors. These collaborations aim to improve sustainability aspects within production, material chains, and consumption patterns. Our circular project, "Evergreens by Eduards Accessories," allows customers to return their used bags for a discount on new purchases. These bags are refurbished and sold again, which is an important part of our approach to resource use and circularity. In The Leather Archive Project, we developed an entirely new limited edition of the braided Näver collection using leftover leather from a local leather producer.

Vegetable-Tanned Leather - A Natural Material That Tells a Story

We use vegetable-tanned leather from European cattle, tanned in Italy. Vegetable tanning is a traditional tanning method where organic materials and natural extracts are used instead of chrome and strong chemicals. Vegetable-tanned leather is a natural product with unique natural marks and color variations, and we are very proud to continue this traditional tanning method. Over time, the untreated natural leather darkens and softens, with each product developing its own patina and becoming unique. Eduards products are delivered untreated, and you can influence the leather's development yourself by using protective leather care products. Learn more about our leather and how to best care for it in our Leather Guide.
