CHOOSE AND CARE

The perfect bag is a loyal companion through thick and thin. Consider both style and function when choosing your new bag, and don’t forget to show it some love! Here are our tips for choosing and taking care of your bag:

1. Find Your Match

Discover the perfect bag by assessing your daily routine, personal style, and practical needs.

Reflect on your daily routine to choose the right size and function. Consider your preference between cross-body and handle bags, and whether you need features like detachable shoulder straps or space for a laptop. Choosing a model with care is the first step to finding the right bag for you.

Select a color that not only resonates with you, but also complements your wardrobe.

Do you want your new accessory to blend seamlessly with your outfit or to stand out as a bold statement piece? Remember that vegetable-tanned leather evolves over time. Natural leather darkens and develops a patina through exposure to light and use, while changes in colour are less pronounced in dyed leather. For those of you who love the look of a naturally aged material, opt for natural leather or the light Oily Navy Nubuck. If you prefer a more stable color, select a dyed option like Black, Brick or Green for example.

2. Leather Care

Protect your new bag from day one.

Before first use, protect your bag against moisture and stains with a product suited to the type of leather. Treat Oily Navy Nubuck with a transparent nubuck spray before use. Natural leather can be treated with a leather spray or conditioner for protection and a more even patina. Always test any leather care product on a small, hidden area first. Visit Eduards Accessories’ Leather Guide for leather care instructions.

Keep your bag in good condition with regular care.

Keep your bag clean and dry to prevent stains and maintain its natural elasticity. Use products intended for leather when cleaning and caring for your bag. Never dry wet leather with heat; instead, let it dry at room temperature. When not in use, stuff the bag to help it maintain its shape and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

3. Care & Repair

Remember, a bit of care goes a long way. Handle your bag gently to help maintain its shape over time.

Avoid overloading your leather bag with heavy or bulky items, as this can stretch and distort the shape of the leather. Open zippers fully to reduce stress, and be mindful of sharp objects that could scratch the leather and the seams.

Care and repair are considered as part of the design process.

Eduards Accessories bags are designed with care and repair in mind. Metal parts such as rivets and buttons are selected from standard ranges, which may make it easier to find matching parts if a repair is needed. Inner pockets and linings are made from leather rather than delicate textiles. Depending on the type of damage and the availability of suitable parts, a professional cobbler may be able to repair the bag or replace individual components.
