VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER
We use high quality vegetable tanned leather from Tuscany, Italy. Continuing the Nordic design tradition, non-coloured Nature leather is the basic material used, but the Näver Collection is also available in a variety of classical colors, as well as limited seasonal colours.
Vegetable tanning is a traditional method where only organic material is used throughout the tanning process. Vegetable tanned leather is a chemical-free material that tells a story – marks and colour variations are natural and regarded as proof of authenticity, not as flaws.
When exposed to rain and moisture, watermarks can show and exposure to light will change the colour of the leather. Small variations resulting from the handmade process guarantee that each item is unique.
Nature is a classic non-coloured tanned leather with great potential; it ages with beauty and will darken with time. In vegetable tanning, organic material such as tree barch is used as active ingredients. When exposed to sun and moisture, the chestnut barch used in the tanning process reactivates, rises to the surface and gives the leather a darker, vintage shine. We love this natural process that makes every single item unique.
If you want your bag to age naturally, just leave it untreated. If you prefer to give nature a helping hand to make your bag more resistant to the elements, we recommend you applying organic leather treatment before use. Remember that leather oil, balm and grease will slightly darken and smoothen the leather. If you want to protect the leather from watermarks and stains, use protective transparent leather spray repeatedly. Always start with a tiny area and see if you like the result before you treat the whole bag. Treat it well, and it will accompany you for years.
Our Black vegetable tanned leather is dyed with organic pigments during the tanning process, a method that gives the leather a true, deep colour that does not fade. In time, the leather will get softer and polished from daily use.
Treat your Black leather bag with leather balm or grease for nourishment.
Our Brick vegetable tanned leather is dyed with organic pigments during the tanning process resulting in leather that is not as affected by sunlight and moist as the non-coloured Nature leather. In time, the leather will get softer and polished from daily use.
Treat your Brick leather bag with leather balm or grease for nourishment.
Oily Navy is a beautiful Nubuck with a smooth velvet-like surface. The greyish blue is carefully selected to go well with both black and blue. Just like the Nature leather, the Oily Navy nubuck leather will change in color and texture over time due to sunlight, moisture and usage.
Treat your Oily Navy bag with nubuck spray before use for protection against moist and rain. Please note that no grease or balm should be used on the Oily Navy nubuck leather, only transparent nubuck spray.
Green is a vegetable tanned leather, dyed with organic pigments and not as affected by sunlight and moist as the non-coloured Nature leather. In time, the leather will get softer and polished from daily use.
Treat your Green leather bag with leather balm or grease for nourishment.
